Clermont is a member of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford Metropolitan Area. Founded in 1884, Clermont was first platted out on the rolling hills between Lake Minnehaha to the south and Lake Minneola to the north. Clermont was named after the hometown of A. F. Wrotnoski, one of the town’s co-founders. In 1916, the town was incorporated, with the first interested developer, Edward Denslow, organizing The Postal Colony Company in 1922. Denslow purchased 1,000 acres of land in Clermont and planted citrus groves, which were owned and taken care of by people who had retired from the post office. Clermont eventually became one of the leading citrus growing towns in the United States.
Hartwood Reserve offers its residents a community swimming pool, tennis court, basketball court, a children's park, as well as easy access to 429 Expressway and the Florida Turnpike. Not far away you have Kings Ridge Publix Plaza, various shops, restaurants, and Lake Louisa State Park.
